Varicocele

A varicocele is a dilation of the pampiniform venous plexus and the internal spermatic vein in the scrotum, much like a varicose vein in the leg.

Signs and Symptoms
  • generally asymptomatic 
  • occasional aching or heaviness 
  • described as a "bag of worms" feeling
Management
  • consult a medical professional 
  • no treatment if asymptomatic
  • surgical options if needed
Prevention 
  • unclear how they are formed or ways to prevent
